The Social Atom: Visualising the World of Relationships

Most of our struggles and joys are connected to our relationships with others. Spouse, daughter, boss, buddy ... our very identities are informed by the many roles we play in the lives of others. In this program, you'll learn how to help clients make the world of their relationships visible to you, and more conscious to your clients, through the use of the social atom. With your help, clients can give you rich picture of the important people in their lives, and begin to shift their relationships in a way that promotes mental health and well being for all concerned.

In this program you will:

• Learn what the social atom is and its uses for your clients

• See an in depth demonstration of a social atom

• Practice facilitating a social atom in action

• Discuss how you can use the social atom in your role as a therapist, coach, or the like.

This program is one of a series of psychodrama programs that are designed to teach core psychodramatic skills from the ground up. They are focused on skills that can be used in 1:1 situations faced by therapists, coaches, and other professionals. The programs can be taken individually or as a series.

Each program includes:

• An introduction to the essentials of psychodrama

• Experiential practice with:

  • Warm-up and group building

  • Action structures -- including some exposure to role playing

  • A structured sharing process for grounding and integration.

• A demonstration of and practice with a specific psychodramatic skill
